INDIA TODAY – Jodhpur graphics
Indians will decorate any and each available surface. They like their graphics loud, bright and generally with an in-your-face attitude that compels the eye.How is this not to be loved?
Odd sightings around Jodhpur, Rajahstan.

Movie posters provide a poignant portrait of India today, what with the layers, the expressions, the state of constant decay and renewal…

And though it is mostly men with macho moustaches – there are a few scantily-clad Indian ladies to be spotted here and there, as well.

Of course, India’s polychromatic pantheon provides endless source of inspiration. Here two gentlemen quietly read the morning papers near a large mural depicting a benevolent Shiva.
Just a brief post, as i’m currently juggling several things and haven’t much time available. I hope you enjoyed this oblique glance on today’s India. A truly magnificent land that not only provides infinite photographic opportunities – it gives you all the time and all the light you need to get those shots just right.
Thanks for visiting.

The layered movie posters image is my favourite – I bet Amitabh Bachchan is in there somewhere!
Thanks, Andrew. Those movie posters – all Indian posters, really – are works of art in their own right. When vandals and weather and time take their toll, they seem to become an entirely new art form. Wish i’d shot more of those…
Sheer fun, Alessandro. And beauty in photography. And wonder.
Thanks Bente. All you say is true, especially wonder. It is always just around the corner, waiting to surprise you, never more than a few steps away, when you’re in India…
A great subject-matter, well spotted and nailed. Those collage-like works could be in a contemporary art museum!
Thanks Antonio. Yes, those posters turn into ever-changing images. Should have shot more of them…
I agree with Antonio – like modern art collages. Love those kinds of things! Just lovely images.
