A few more street scenes from Trastevere, where Rome is at its most charming.
Trastevere: tiny houses, potted plants and motorcycles everywhere.
The pace is so slow that even nuns stand around chatting in the alleys.
Hm – the Herald Tribune says there’s nothing happening in Trastevere.
The gelato will always be part of life in Trastevere. The payphone in the background, on the other hand, won’t be around much longer.
And if your favorite ice cream parlor does not provide seating, you just choose a threshold in a leafy alley.
All i hope is that my owner comes before the creeper completely blocks my window…
All photographs taken in 2013. Hope you enjoyed and thanks for being here.
Fantastic set, Alessandro!!! I love all of them, but I’m not going to break the tradition and my favorite ones are 1, 2, 4 and 5. Mi piace l’atmosfera intima delle scene.
Mille grazie per il meraviglioso commento, Juan! Most of the streets are so narrow, it definitely feels intimate, almost like being indoors.
The cat in the window has a beseeching look in her eyes. Maybe she’s waiting for a serenade?
I think it’s a he. And – definitely hoping for a serenade… 😉
Love these Alessandro! During my last trip to Rome I had one of the most relaxing coffee breaks in Trastevere.
Excellent choice, Olli – Trastevere can soothe the soul…
Cool post! Can’t wait to return someday!
And i’m ready to bet nothing will have changed by the time you come back, Kathryn…
I soooooooo hope not!
Love them, as always. My favorite is probably #2 – the composition with the awnings leading right to the nuns is just perfect! Wish I could visit Rome. 🙂
Thanks, Ann. I’m quite sure Rome would love to have you. One tip – bring a large memory card… 🙂
or a dozen? 🙂
Great set of interesting candids.
Thanks, David. I sometimes do feel a bit of a stalker, but i try not to intrude too heavily…
😀 cats are such great posers 😉 Thank you for another walk in Trastevere Alessandro. I remember a Sicilian restaurant that served the most delicious porto and some deserts I can’t remember the name of – I had three different kinds 😀 Grazie 🙂
Ah, the food of Trastevere is something else – and the economic downturn has actually made it better, as bad businesses close down.
And cats – what’s not to love about them? Clean, handsome, elegant – and no model release required! 😉
Would be the ideal place for me just now, but alas, have to do with cold creeping in and dark wilderness. Love that cat, and your comment!!! 🙂
Ugh – and just wait until they take our daylight savings time away and plunge us into night by mid-afternoon 😦
Thanks, Bente! 🙂
If there is gelato in Trastevere then it must be heavenly!
Thanks Karen. Indeed the world is a better place now: you can get gelato year-round, whereas when i was a kid they would ony make it in the summer months…
I would like to live there. Can you teach me Italian? Wonderful photographs! ~amy
Thanks, Amy. Of course i can teach you Italian – it’s not that difficult and great fun to learn and to practice…
Ok, I’ll swing by soon. 🙂
