TRASTEVERE II – street photography
More views from the nooks and crannies of Trastevere, that shank of Rome where time moves slowly.

This gentleman sat for a while reading the paper and nibbling at the loaf of bread in the brown paper bag on his lap, fresh from the ancient bakery on Via del Moro.

Vintage Fiat pickup truck parked on Via della Lungaretta near Carlo Menta restaurant. In the background, a waiter carries dishes of traditional Roman fare.

Laundry is hung on lines for drying. Afterwards, you can chat with your neighbor, a few meters below, directly from your window.
Don’t you just love Trastevere? The last picture, in particular, came as a total surprise, as i sat on some church steps to take a break. The ladies picked up the child and they all rode merrily off on their scooter, with the look of mischief on their faces. I had just enough time for one frame. Luckily, it caught three smiles. One of those times when life seems to smile back at you…
All pictures taken september 2013.

Simply GREAT, Alessandro!!! Any of them is worth a post but, as usual, my favorites are 1, 3, 4 and 5.
Thanks, Santi! A lucky day hunting for images…
no eh! non ci puoi fotografare in 3 sul motorino 😛
Donne italiane – come non amarle? Grazie! 🙂
What a work of art!! I love it:0)
I’m glad you do and thanks a lot!
Beautiful shots! I like that each of them includes a person (even though you have to hunt for them!) Great photography! 🙂
Thanks, Ckponderings! Agreed – street photography is more about people than it is about streets… 🙂
Reblogged this on ckponderings and commented:
Some great street photography! 🙂
Thanks for the reblog!
No worries! 😀
beautiful photos, almost like from another era
So true: going to Trastevere is a little like stepping back in time – thanks, Olive!
Vintage shiny Fiat with chrome bumpers and busy, all dressed up waiter: Just… classy!
Wonderful set, Alessandro.
Thanks, Antonio. I framed the pickup truck and then waited for a waiter to take a curve at speed. Unfortunately, the chrome looks much better in the photo than it does in reality…
The minute your photographs appear in my feed I know they’re yours..fantastic.
If there is a fine line between developing one’s own style and becoming mindlessly repetitive, i hope i always manage to stay on the creative side of that line…
Your comment is very much appreciated – thanks!
Oh definitely! I meant it absolutely as a compliment – a style of your own but always engaging and surprising too..
I do love Trastevere! Authentic latin microcosmos (photographed by an authentic artist)
Thanks, Covetotop! One thing i’d really love to see, is a Covetotop post on Trastevere. I’ll bet you’d discover hidden little gems even Romans overlook…
I don’t dare! There is too much talent in Roma just now! (ie: AC) 😉
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. You can tell that this is Italy just by the elements you chose to highlight in each photograph…great job!
Coming from a poet, this comment means a lot to me. Thanks, billimarie!
After seeing these pictures, I long for a walk in Trastevere.
It’s like being in a little town surrounded by a huge city – you’d love it, Bente! Thanks…
Yes, indeed, I do love Trastevere. Through your eyes it is sublime.
You make even laundry look beautiful!
Thanks, Karen. Although far from perfect, Trastevere has heaps of authentic charm, and tons of good-natured character…
Great posts! I never get your alerts..hmmmm
Thanks Vastlycurious! And – hmmmm. I wonder why that may be…?
I do know know!!
Kathryn
Very nice set. Just feels like being there.
Thanks Waex99 – in Trastevere it’s real easy to blend in and become part of the scenery…
Alessandro, you must feel right at home among such playful, relaxed souls. Loved this glimpse of Trastevere through your eyes. 🙂
Thanks, Tricia. This part of town moves at a more humane, relaxing pace than the rest of the world… 🙂
Beautiful, wonderful & timeless looking place. I Love Trastevere, I will live there someday! ~amy
Trastevere is like a small town nestled within a large city – it really is a unique place. You’d love it! Thank you!
Someday, Alessandro! -amy
We recently stayed in Trastavere and loved the neighborhood. I love the photo with the vintage truck and waiter.
Thanks Jeff. Easily the best part of Rome to stay in – excellent choice. I’m glad you liked these – thanks!
