Trees are by far the largest living creatures on this planet. That indisputable truth notwithstanding, they are an extremely under-rated subject in today’s photography. This photo essay attempts to fill that gap. The recipe was easy: take a bunch of hughe old eucalyptus trees. Move in close. Then a little closer. Then zoom in. Gotcha!
I’m not really sure how many of these markings are natural and how many are old scars from some fool carving his problems into these gentle giants’ skin. Which, to be fair, does tend to crack and peel off in long strips anyway.
