BLACK BERLINERS – shady photo essay

i spend six days in berlin trying to avoid the puddles caused by the near-incessant rain and wishing for a little direct sunlight to make the colors shine a bit. and when the sun finally does come out – just instants before sunset – i spend the entire time shooting shadows…

och, mein gott! the sun is out! quick shadow, open the door, i gotta get out with my camera…

…to shoot…

…shadows…

…nothing but…

…shadows.

ok. that should cover it…

…good bye!

    Shades of wonderful!
These are superb. The single bicycle is especially beautiful. Your work is always innovative and interesting.

i truly appreciate the compliment – thank you.

about being always innovative: on the one hand it keeps things interesting, fun and educational, but on the other it can make it more difficult to sell your services or your work. employers, customers, publishers tend to prefer photographers who stick to a specific topic all the time. which hardly matches my idea of creativity.

Excellent series, especially the bike (#4) and ‘good bye’ (#7, self portrait I assume) ;~)

bikes are a pretty safe bet in photography – those shapes just seem to please the eye. and, yup, last one is yours truly ;)

      thanks rudolf.
