ACAPULCO – a short photo story
perhaps not the most handsome of places, acapulco has too many vehicles clogging too few roads.
geographically, on the other hand, it’s wonderfully located facing a wide, graceful bay.
the grace tends to pale a little in the faces of the many concrete skyscrapers, built directly on the beach.
near one end of the beach some brave men – the “clavados” – dive twice daily off cliffs from a great height.

i spent a couple of months in pie de la cuesta when i was a kid. every so often we would go to acapulco to pick up mail and other sundries, stopping in at a sanbornes for ice cream and stawberries. i returned for a brief visit as a young adult, and haven’t been back in over 25yrs. nice memories; i’ll always have a soft spot for this place!
